My Geological Books

1. Dorling Kindersley: Rocks and Minerals

Bought this at Kunikuniya KLCC by a friend during my study time at UKM. Nice collection of rocks and minerals in colours. The minerals characteristic such as group, composition, hardness, specific gravity (SG), cleavage and fracture is noted with the description.


2. The Petroleum Geology and Resources of Malaysia Book

Got this free when i start working with my current company. This is the most comprehensive published account on Petroleum Geology of Malaysian Basins. Published in 1999 by Petronas, it provides summary for all the basins offshore and onshore. The chapters include Malaysian Petroleum Industry, Regional Tectonics and Sedimentary basins of Malaysia, Petroleum Resources and Sedimentary Basins of Peninsula Malaysia, Sarawak and Sabah.
Recent understanding on Deepwater area offshore Sarawak and Sabah area not covered in the book. However interested reader can refer some recent published journal

3. Geological Evolution of South East Asia

I bought this during PGCE. Excellent compilation of regional geology of SEA region.

4. Dorling Kindersley: Fossils
Bought this cheap at one of the book fair in KL. 

5. Petroleum Geologist guide to Seismic Reflection
Basic introduction to seismic theory and interpretation.Recommended book for my MSc Geophysics course. This book also comes with a CD containing softwares to  play around with wavelet and seismic.



6.  3D seismic Interpretation
Guide for 3D seismic interpretation. Recommended book for my MSc Geophysics course.It covers topics on Seismic acquisition, processing and interpretation.


7. Basin Analysis
Also bought during my MSc, this book provide comprehensive account of Basin analysis and application for petroleum exploration.
